Abe: Serving the Best of Pampanga’s Cuisine
Abe Restaurant serves traditional Filipino food, mostly of Kapampangan origin. The name might sound a little like a Japanese name, but it’s actually the nickname of the late Mr. Larry Cruz, father of the owner. The word “Abe” means “friend” in Kapampangan.

Since a lot of the dishes in Abe are based on Pampanga’s cuisine, you can expect a different variety of dishes not usually found in other Filipino restaurants. One of their most popular menus is Bunukadkad Na Pla Pla, an entire fish sliced in 3 and deep fried. Sinigang Sa Ube has a slightly creamy texture due to the ube mixed in the soup. The ube also tones down some of the sourness which sinigang is known for. Many Japanese tourists often visit the place. One of their bestseller is the Bamboo Rice, a dish of rice, shrimp, mushroom and bamboo sprouts stuffed in a bamboo container and steamed.
Sinantol Na Hipon (P195) is santol with onion, bagoong and shrimp, cooked in coconut milk.
Binukadkad Na Pla Pla (P399) Wrap the meat in leaves for a light and refreshing treat.
They also have a menu displayed in Japanese, so it’s a good place to recommend to Japanese who are new in the country. They also have a private room for up to 30 people, a great choice for holding events.
