Il Gallo Nero in Cavite: A Refreshing Spot for Italian Pasta and Pizzas

Opened in 2008, just three years after Alfonso Hotel was established, Il Gallo Nero is a modest dining place where guests can delight in pizzas and pasta while appreciating the country setting and vast greeneries. Its name’s origin is a translation of “the black rooster” in Italian, which is the symbol of Tuscany, hence the restaurant’s logo.

They are proud of their thin-crust pizzas, which are freshly-baked the Italian way. Diners can enjoy delicious pizza choices such as their must-try Pizza Salsiccia. This pizza is an outstanding Italian specialty topped with Italian sausage and mushrooms. It has a combination of sweet and spicy flavors that pumps up your palate.

Another pizza to look out for is their Pizza with Anchovy, a heavenly choice for pizza-lovers as it is garnished with bits of salty anchovy that blends well with the sweet and sour flavor of the fresh tomato sauce.

They also have an impeccable choice of pasta to complement their pizzas such as the Puttanesca. It is made from firm spaghetti pasta folded in fresh tomato sauce with olive oil, anchovies, capers, and garlic.

It is a short distance from the highway and within arm’s reach of a vast field of grass, which brings you all the cool breeze unobstructed by towering concretes.
Il Gallo Nero is about 20 minutes away from the city center but is worth the drive if the idea of dining amid a breezy and grassy countryside landscape appeals to you.

- Alfonso Hotel’s Il Gallo Nero Italian Trattoria is located at Royale Tagaytay Estates in Alfonso, Cavite via Tagaytay-Nasugby Highway. It is 25 minutes away from Olivarez Plaza, Emilio Aguinaldo Highway.
- By car: From Olivarez Plaza, drive along Tagaytay-Nasugby Highway passing by The Original Hawaiian BBQ, RSM Lutong Bahay, and Breakfast at Antonio’s. Continue straight ahead before reaching Splendido Tagaytay. On your right is the Flying V gas station near the entrance of Royale Tagaytay Estates.
