  • Check Out These Restaurants Offering Sinigang With a Twist
  • It’s no-brainer that the savory Filipino dish Sinigang is probably the tastiest soup viand in the country. Often cooked with tamarind to make it extra sour, Sinigang uses either pork, beef, fish, or even shrimp.

But what happens when you twist the well-loved dish into something more? Well, here are restaurants with their own special concoctions that your curious palates would want to try!

    Neil’s Kitchen

    Wagyu Beef Sinigang

Neil’s Kitchen sure knows how to tickle your taste buds with their inventive Filipino twists. One example is the Wagyu Beef Sinigang—how often do you spot a local dish refreshed with Japanese touch? There’s also the savory Sinigang Paella with grilled pork belly if you’re craving for Spanish cuisine.

    Manam Comfort Filipino Food

    Sinigang na Beef Short Rib

Beef Sinigang is a bit common in the country, but Manam adds a unique taste to it by using watermelon. Unlike the traditional pale-colored soup, the watermelon dominates this one with its reddish finish, adding a hint of sweetness to this already-perfect mixture.

    Bench Cafe

With a commitment to promote anything local, Bench Cafe would definitely make you want to try their carinderia (local eatery) classics. One dish that really stands out is the Sinigang na Santol, which ups the level of sourness compared to the usual mix. You can choose to have it with pork belly, beef tadyang, or sugpo.

    Baker Brothers

    Corned Beef in Sinigang

Baker Brothers’ Corned Beef in Sinigang may be one of the oddest take you’ll see, and yet it would somehow make a mark on you. They used a brisket corned beef topped with Sinigang gravy, paired with their organic spinach rice. You’ll love the tenderness of the meat!

    Locavore

    Sizzling Sinigang

Locavore will surely make you go loco over their sumptuous local twists. Sizzling Sinigang, for instance, uses beef short ribs but served without the soup. It’s drizzled with sampaloc gravy instead, with added taste from the sautéed French beans and garlic confit.

Another crowd-favorite that will really entice you just by hearing its name is the Kimchinigang—a type of Sinigang combined with Korea’s popular staple, kimchi.

    Oh Six Oh Eight

Ilocos is undoubtedly famous for its bagnet, and Oh Six Oh Eight managed to make use of it to create their warm bowl of Sinigang na Bagnet. It’s very similar to the classic Sinigang, but this one uses chunky pork belly.
