  • Maisen in Greenbelt: Japan’s Much-Loved Katsu Restaurant
  • Just when you thought you have tasted it all when it comes to tonkatsu comes Maisen, one of the finest Tonkatsu restaurants in Japan. This katsu restaurant located in Greenbelt in Makati is definitely a must-try, and here’s why.

The simple interiors put prominence to the Maisen logo. Seating is limited, so avoid dining out during busy and peak hours/IMAGE Maisen PH

Brought to Manila by the Suyen Group of Companies under renowned tycoon Ben Chan, Maisen brings something new to table courtesy of the pairing of the soft, lean kurobuta pork and the four kinds of sauces that are unique to Maisen: akamuchi (sweet), karakuchi (Worcestershire sauce), spicy mustard, and the special kurobuta spicy and sweet sauce mixed with freshly grated apples.

For those -on-the-go, you gotta try their Tenderloin Katsu Pocket Set (Php 275) made with their special katsu and egg. For dine-in, the yolk is cooked runny, but if you’re having this for to-go, it’s cooked well-done.

A unique dining experience awaits in every order of Katsumabushi set (Php 390)

Meanwhile, the Katsumabushi Set offers a unique dining experience – the set, composed of a generous service of Japanese rice topped with seaweed strips, bite-sized tenderloin chops, onsen tamago and dashi stock, offers three varied ways to enjoy the experience. The best is to get a few spoonful of rice, seaweed strips and bite-sized tenderloin and place it on the bowl, add a splash of dashi stock and then enjoy. The mixture of flavors and textures will surprise you.

Apart from their set meals, you’ll also love their pocket-sized sandwiches freshly-made every morning. Maisen only uses fresh pork for all their katsu meals, and even the loaf bread they use for their sandwiches are made from their own recipe.
