  • Lime and Basil in Tagaytay: The City’s Precious Hidden Gem
  • Most of our best finds are also the best-kept secrets of Tagaytay—just like Lime and Basil Restaurant, which is sequestered in a residential area a good distance away from the highway.

Lime and Basil Restaurant remains to be one of Tagaytay’s most precious hidden gems.

Lime and Basil succeeded because of a wife’s love for Thai food and a husband’s culinary passion. They offer their own rendition of well-known Thai dishes, incorporating some Filipino flavors while staying faithful to original Thai cooking methods.

Herbs, which are an essential part of many Thai dishes, are grown in their own backyard. It also adds to the beautiful natural scenery surrounding the home-like restaurant.

To warm you up in the cool climate of Tagaytay, try their Tom Yum Goong, a sour and spicy soup made with shrimp and herbs.

Their Pad Thai meanwhile is beautifully plated stir-fried noodles surrounded by lime, bean sprouts, and dried chili, and topped with crispy dried shrimp.

After a hearty meal, don’t miss out on delicious desserts like Kao Niew Mamaung, a serving of sticky rice with mango.

You may also opt to have your meal under the clouds on a clear day or in the evening when evening lights and stars prevail for a more romantic vibe.
