  • Spend the after hours in style at Madisons, a sophisticated yet cozy bistro just right outside Shangri-La Hotel in Mandaluyong. Opened by the same group that conceptualized Dillinger’s in Makati, Madisons exhibits casual elegance in its modern interiors, highlighted by neutral colors and contemporary furniture.


    Lounge indoors or al fresco on while sipping a glass of whiskey, red wine or any one of Madison’s specialty drinks. Highly recommended are the French Martini (Belvedere, Chambord, Pineapple and Lavender) and Elderflower Fashion (Maker’s Mark and St. Germain), which pair well with Madisons’ bestsellers, Speck and Goat Cheese Mousse (550) – rolled-up pieces of lean pork filled with truffle-scented goat cheese mousse – and Roasted Bone Marrow (P385), creamy marrow with salsa verde and crostini served on a block of wood.


    For something more substantial, Madisons’ Lamb Shanks (P750) are the best way to go. Braised until fork-tender, the shanks are huge, delicious and laid on top of mashed potatoes and vegetables. Madisons’ also has steak, angus (P950) or rib eye (P1,680) depending on preference, and comes with a side of vegetables, a siding of potato variants or creamed spinach, and sauce. For less guilt, the Norwegian Salmon Fillet (P680) is a lighter yet still savory option. Served with cipollini onions that have been glazed, the salmon is flaky and well-seasoned and goes well with the bed of risotto underneath it.



    Cap off the evening with one of Madison’s desserts: Pistachio Mousse Tart with Marscapone Cream (P265), Walnut Parfait (P265), or Warm Peanut Butter and Chocolate Fondant (P250) are good options. If you’re not up for something too sweet, though, you can just order another round of your favorite drinks.
