  • Trends to Expect in the Philippines This 2019
  • It is only the first week of January, and we are already looking forward to what to expect for the year. With the world changing every minute, we are urged to plan ahead and welcome the latest in technology, fashion, automobile, and business.

Based on the developments of trends in the last days of 2018, let us move on to the expected trends of 2019:

    5G in Technology

5G is the next generation of mobile broadband that will eventually replace the landline or 4G LTE technology. The new broadband delivers faster download and upload speeds. With 5G technology, users will be able to browse the internet at higher speeds with lower latency and better capacity.

    Living Coral in Fashion

Color authority Pantone has announced that Living Coral, or Pantone 16-1546 to be exact, as the color of 2019. We are already seeing make-up products that match the color, as well as outfits that can rock this newest trend. Feel free to also use the soft pinkish color to brighten the house with coral sheets, towels or wallpaper.

Pantone describes the color as “An animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge” / IMAGE Pantone

    Androgyny in Fashion

2018 introduced clean lines and simple shapes in women fashion that is usually identified with men creating a hot androgynous style. Men are also starting to wear more edgy cuts, form-fitting pants, and sporty pieces. Challenging the gender norm is seen to continue this year with coats, slacks, and suits for women.

    Pegan Diet in Food

The combination of the Paleo and Vegan diet, Pegan Diet, is trending all over the world according to both Google and Pinterest searches. As early as now, it is becoming known as the “Healthiest Diet” by eating real food. It requires you to take in more veggies, healthy fats, raw nuts while staying away from sugar, gluten, and dairy.

    More Deliveries in Food

Through the introduction of reliable food deliveries last year, 2019 sees even more diners eating at the comforts of their homes or offices. With the increased problem with traffic and transportation costs, people turn to the convenience of having food delivered with just a tap of an app.

    Safety in Automobiles

Accident prevention technologies such as lane assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cameras, and collision warning systems are slowly being integrated even in the basic car models. Many models are also introducing services such as mobile gadgets that can monitor the car status.

Other than its built-in safety features, MG cars also feature after sales services, such as an application that monitors your car’s status from your phone

    Flexibility in Business

2018 proved that the four walls of the office may not mean a “workspace” for many. For this year, the Philippine government is looking into giving employees the option to work from home or wherever there is a stable internet connection. As you read, the House Bill (HB) No. 7402 also known as the Telecommuting Act or “work from home” policy is on its way to becoming a law to both ease the congestion of cities and worsening traffic.
