  • The Wholesome Table’s specialty is comfort food. But what makes all the difference is that this restaurant is passionately committed to serving all things organic. Owned by the power couple Bianca and Juan Elizalde, the restaurant specializes in healthy dishes that use free-range poultry, grass-fed beef, wild-caught seafood, local artisan products, the freshest vegetables, and natural sauces that are all made from scratch.

The menu is a mix of meat, seafood and vegetable dishes, pizza, pastas, sandwiches and ‘power bowls’ –a filling bowl of various grains topped with vegetables. They also specialize in delicious smoothies and detox juices that help cleanse the body. Try the Enlightened Bowl, a brown rice bowl with nori, mixed seeds, greens, pickled onion and topped with silky tofu, shiitake mushrooms, sprouts and ginger dressing. Every bright crunch of vegetables in it is worth savoring. The Barcelona Pizza (P690) with turkey chorizo, mushrooms, garlic, mozzarella, Grana Padano cheese and tomato sauce is also a delectable choice. The Organic Mushroom Fritters (P290), meanwhile, are deep-fried, perfectly-chewy mozzarella-stuffed button mushrooms wrapped in delicious homemade Italian sausage, and served with a fresh, tart cherry tomato passato. These fritters taste complex, sumptuous and satisfying.

Get the Wholesome Mojito (P120) to wash it all down. It’s a refreshing green smoothie that tastes exactly like a mojito, except that it’s actually alcohol-free and good for your body. You can also get Be Worthy (P350) for drinks or as dessert. It’s a smoothie made of banana, almond butter, hemp, vanilla, cacao, maca, sole, honey, chia seeds, and almond milk – it’s a cold, sweet finish that would surely brighten up your day.

So don’t be afraid to indulge at The Wholesome Table. You may feast on all the comfort food they can offer, just minus the guilt trip after.
