EVENTS IN MANILA: March 7 to 8, 2020
Time surely flies fast because the March is already here and what a great way to start off the month’s first weekend than indulging oneself in a series of fun and exciting events that will surely pique the adrenaline inside you.
With that, we present to you various events happening around the metro that you should look out for this weekend!
Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta (March 6 to 8)
The longest-running annual aviation event for hot air balloons, paragliding, skydiving, and more in Asia—Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta Flying Carnival, is back this year at a new venue where you can experience the magic of it all in the south.
Happening at San Lazaro Leisure Park in Carmona, Cavite, the event’s 23rd edition will feature multiple hot-air balloon rides, tandem paragliding, a helicopter ride as well as a show of aerobatic paragliding, formation sky diving, helicopter maneuvers, and radio-controlled aircraft as well as on the ground activities and performances.

Scorpions Crazy World Tour in Manila (March 7)
German rock band Scorpions is all set to grace the Manila stage to perform timeless rock ballads for their Crazy World Tour happening at Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City.
Comprised of Rudolf Schenker on rhythm guitar, Klaus Meine on vocals, Matthias Jabs on lead guitar, Pawel Maciwoda on bass, and Mikkey Dee on drums, the band is deemed as one of the most successful bands in Europe, selling over 100 million records.
Tickets are available at SM Tickets outlets nationwide and online. Prices start at Php 2,500 for Upper Box B to Php 5,500 for VIP Standing.

Stargazing and Astrophotography (March 7 to 8)

Don’t miss a night of appreciating the night sky and learning about photography at the Stargazing and Astrophotography event set at WK Forest Reserve & Campgrounds in Tanay, Rizal. This overnight activity allows participants to gaze upon the beauty of the night sky and learn how to capture its grandeur.
Expect an offroad adventure where participants will be riding 4x4s en route to the campsite. An astrophotography lecture will also happen to be led by MJ Magallon of AstroPinas.
There are limited slots available so it is better to sign-up here before it’s too late! Stargazing only is priced at Php 1,000 per head while the Astrophotography course is priced at Php 1,500 per head.

Sandbox Fest 2020 (March 7 to 29)
Witness two plays of English playwright Duncan Macmillian unravel its stories at Sandbox Fest 2020 from March 7 to 29 at the Maybank Performing Arts Theater, BGC.
Presented by 9 Works Theatrical and The Sandbox Collective, this theater festival features reruns of two sold-out plays: Every Little Thing which will be directed by Jenny Jamora and will star Teresa Herrera and Kakki Teodoro, and Lungs which will star Jake Cuenca and Sab Jose with the direction of Andrei Pamintuan.
Tickets are available at TicketWorld online and outlets nationwide, priced at Php 1,363 and Php 1,704 for Regular and VIP, respectively.

Mommy Mundo World 2020 (March 7 to 8)
Score great finds for your kids at the Kids Activities and Family Travel Fair happening this weekend at the expanse of C1 Park in Bonifacio Global City. The two-day fair is open free for all mommies from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. where they can find the latest products, services, and even summer activities for kids all in one event.
Not only that, but moms can also look forward to a heap of free demonstrations and workshops at the fair.

Ballet Manila’s Carmina Burana & La Traviata (March 7 to 8)
Happening at the Samsung Hall at SM Aura, Taguig City, witness a fusion of ballet and classical music brought by Ballet Manila (BM) as they close their 24th season, On Pointe, with the staging of Carmina Burana & La Traviata (A Double Bill).
Choreographed by BM artistic director Liza Macuja-Elizalde, La Triviata is a romantic, moving story about Violetta, Alfredo, and their complicated romance thwarted by outside forces and a character named Baron.
Meanwhile, Carmina Burana is former BM principal dancer Rudy De Dios’s first full-length ballet that is based on medieval Latin poems highlighted with the dramatic music by Carl Orff.
Tickets for Carmina Burana & La Traviata are available at SM Tickets outlets and online via smtickets.com starting at Php 1,000 for Gold seats to Php 3,000 for VVIP.

Arte Povera (February 10 to April 30)
Appreciate art far from its traditional form at Arte Povera: Italian Landscape presented by the Metropolitan Museum of Manila in partnership with the Metropolitan Museum of Manila.
Open from February 10 until April 30, the exhibit features artworks of Italian artists during the contemporary art movement of the same name curated by Daniel Eccher.
The admission fee is Php 100 for adults and students, and Php 80 for senior citizens and PWDs.

Ortigas Art Festival (February 28 to March 8)
The 3rd Ortigas Art Festival is here once again to bring all things artsy and satiate the consistently-parched-for-goodness art community at Estancia at Capitol Commons in Pasig City.
Happening from February 28 to March 8, expect an exhibition designed one of the prominent figures in the scene of social realism, Renato Habulan.
The entrance is free for all so take it as one of the many attestations that art will forever be a kaleidoscopic representation of the world we live in and the lives each of us leads.
