When asked about how Hamburg Yoshi came to the Philippines, co-owner Cecile Zamora shared the story behind its establishment with Philippine Primer.
“I love going to Japan. I go every two months. The first thing I do when I wake up is I go to the salon in Aoyama. I took a taxi, but the taxi took a wrong turn, and I saw this picture of burger on rice. After my salon, I looked for it and I loved it. I was with my friend who lives in Japan. I said, ‘I want to bring this to Manila,'” Cecile excitedly shared.
Hamburg Yoshi offers four varieties of hamburg steak: the Regular Beef Patty, Wagyu Hamburg, Beef Tongue Hamburg, and Skirt Steak. These can be enjoyed as part of a set meal, which includes miso soup, pickles, raw egg, and unlimited rice.
The signature appeal of Hamburg Yoshi’s hamburgers lies in the irresistible savory aroma as they grill the rich, juicy meat. The burst of flavor the moment it hits your mouth is perfectly complemented with freshly cooked rice, a combination that has captivated food lovers and sparked long lines every day!

They focus on using freshly ground meat from whole cuts and grinding it in-house every morning, allowing customers to experience the fullest flavors of the meat. This is what makes them different from other fast-food hamburger joints that use pre-ground meat instead of fresh ones.
Further, unlike regular hamburgers cooked on a griddle, Hamburg Yoshi grills over charcoal, helping remove excess fat while enhancing the savory aroma of the meat.
Another unique feature of Hamburg Yoshi is their special Japanese rice, freshly-cooked every day in a special Hagama pot. Partnered with their signature demi-glace sauce with black pepper, and complemented by their signature seasonings of salted lemon, pickled ginger, and green chili pepper, the hamburgers at Hamburg Yoshi promise the full flavors as in Japan.

With the goal of expanding to the Philippines and Southeast Asia, Yoshinori Yasukawa, owner of Hamburg Yoshi, aims to deliver the same high-quality taste the restaurant is known for. Soon, customers can look forward to experiencing the original flavors of its signature charcoal-grilled hamburgers at their new location in BGC.

“My goal is to bring a piece of Tokyo to the Philippines. I want to share that joy to Filipinos,” Cecile continued. She added, “I’m learning a lot from Mr. Yoshi. I’ve always been interested in learning the Japanese culture. Their ways are very different from Filipinos. I’m learning so much about not wasting food, about ordering just what you need, simplifying life. I love learning from them,” Cecile concluded.
Hamburg Yoshi is set to open their new location this March 9, 2025. Don’t forget to mark your calendars and follow us to get the latest news about Hamburg Yoshi!
