  • Sinigang and Adobo are two of the most popular (and favorite) Filipino dishes by many, according to TasteAtlas, a popular online guide to recipes and local cuisines all around the globe. However, if these are the only dishes you would try when visiting the country, you might be missing out.

The truth is, there is much more to Filipino cuisine than sinigang and adobo! So, if you want to dig deeper and dig in to some of the most sumptuous Pinoy dishes in the Metro, try Guevarra’s by Chef Laudico in San Juan, Metro Manila!

Beloved by both distant travelers and local patrons, Guevarra’s is a renowned buffet restaurant, offering a warm, homey atmosphere that has remained unaltered since the 1920s. The Philippine flag that you can sometimes spot outside the restaurant, symbolizes its dedication to the country, as well as its homage to history and rich culinary treasures.

Apart from its charming architecture and thoughtfully chosen décor, reminiscent of old Filipino homes influenced by Spanish colonial design, Guevarra’s offers a Filipino feast with an array of dishes to choose from!

Their Regular Buffet Menu, for example, carries over 60 offerings, from hot and cold appetizers to hearty entrees, grilled favorites, assorted breads, and desserts.

To start your Filipino buffet feast, scoop some Chicharong Bulaklak, some fresh salads, or even their bacon and spinach-stuffed Embutido onto your plate to give you a taste of the authentic flavors of the Philippines.

For the main course, Guevarra’s version of Kare-Kare or peanut-based stew is steep with a variety of meats and vegetables such as eggplant, string beans, and pechay (Chinese cabbage), an ultimate must-try during your culinary journey at Guevarra’s. Pair it with rice to balance those rich flavors and textures!

Of course, don’t leave the buffet area just yet without taking a few hearty chunks of their grilled offerings and carvings! Choose from their Bellychon (Lechon Pork Belly), Crispy Bacon Bagnet, Grilled Chicken Inasal, and even Angus Roastbeef to satisfy your cravings for succulent, flavorful meats.
