  • Danish design brand Vipp opens first stand-alone concept store in Asia
  • Trash bins, lamps, a kitchen, and probably the most unique “hotel” in the world. These are the terms usually associated with Danish design brand Vipp.

Most of Asia may not be familiar with the brand, but Europeans and those from the Middle East are. They’re known for their timeless products that will most likely fit every set-up you have: modern homes, city lofts, and castles. Lucky for us, the proud Danish brand just decided to open a store in the country — and this one’s a stand-alone showroom.

THE VIPP STORE. Located at Shangri-La at the Fort’s Retail Arcade, VIPP’s first stand-alone showroom opened its doors last May 17.

THE VIPP TEAM. Representatives from Vipp, led by Chief Designer Morten Bo Jensen (2nd from left), were present at the store opening last Thursday.

Vipp opened the doors to its newest showroom in BGC last Thursday, May 17, with the Danish brand bringing their chief designer, Morten Bo Jensen, to talk more about Vipp, their design philosophy, and how they think it will fit the Filipino audience.

BLACK  PEDAL BINS. Vipp’s iconic pedal bins are their claim to fame. As the story goes, Vipp founder Holger Nielsen was asked a simple question by his wife, Marie: “I need a waste bin for my salon. Can you make me one?” The rest, as they say, is history.

Vipp’s design philosophy is simple: focus on the essence of the product. They do away with color schemes and what is trending, looking instead at how a product works and the kind of environment it will be used in.

WALL LAMPS. They take their design process seriously. Even something as simple as, say, a wall lamp features design elements whose quality exceeds anything you’ve ever seen.

By placing an emphasis on function and then on form, they come up with timeless designs that stand the test of time. The design of their trash bin hasn’t changed much in the company’s near-80 year history. The rest of their products follow the same principle.

TIMELESS DESIGN. Color options may be limited, but black and white pieces always mesh well with any color palette. That over-the-top lamp you have now? It’ll be out of style in 2-3 years if you’re lucky, 2-3 months if you’re not.

Each piece you will see in the Vipp store at Shangri-La at the Fort is also hand-crafted and are unique only to Vipp. You may see similar products elsewhere, but you won’t find the same quality.

Don’t believe us? Swing by the Vipp showroom and find out for yourself. They’re located at the Retail Arcade, 2/F, Shangri-La at the Fort, 30th St. cor. 5th Ave., Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
