  • Whisky Live Manila is here to make whisky a culture
  • Whisky Live Manila, the biggest whiskey tasting event in the country, is happening again this year, and if you’re expecting something bigger and more exciting, then you won’t be disappointed.

During a media preview held last September 20 at the Brewery at The Palace, Philippine Primer got a special preview of the forthcoming Whisky Live Manila which will take place at Shangri-La at the Fort in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) on October 20 -21.

Three kinds of single malt whiskeys were sampled.

The seven-step process of producing whiskey was passionately discussed at the Brewery by host Johnssen Li, and glasses of fine whiskeys were generously shared. Li also fervently shared interesting bits of information about the different types of whiskey and the different ways to savor the drink. All while artist Archie Oclos was doing a live art interpretation of whiskey on the stage.

Sampling Kavalan Solist Vinho Barrique, the World’s Best Whisky in 2015, was perhaps the main event of the night.

The mic was not exclusive to the host; rather, it went around the venue, letting people from the audience speak of their shared passion or express genuine curiosity.

This is basically what will happen at the Whisky Live Manila in Shangri-La at the Fort—you will meet people who have put in a lot of passion into the production of whiskey, sample the finest whiskeys from all over the world, and realize that whiskey is not exclusive for men in tuxedos.

Everyone has a lot to share and a lot to learn about whiskey.

This year’s event revolves around “the art of whiskey” as the theme and is expected to gather thousands of whiskey enthusiasts and curious newcomers. There will be a lot of sampling sessions, master classes, and a collaboration between professionals and students in the hospitality and culinary world.

Archie Oclos proving that whiskey can be a good inspiration for art.

Whisky Live Manila 2017 is bigger not only in terms of the venue but also because of its ultimate aim—to bring the whiskey culture to all the 7,107 islands of the Philippine archipelago.
