  • Bohemia Cafe and Tap House in Makati: Pescetarian Comfort Food and refreshing beers
  • Aside from being a foodie’s paradise, Poblacion is known for having the best bars and watering holes Makati has to offer. Locals and tourist could wander around the streets right now and they will still be able to find hidden gems. In our case, we found something that is truly worth visiting.

Bohemia Cafe and Tap House is the newest venture of Hazel Que, who also owns the same place where Il Fiore Earth Cafe and Gelato Lab used to be in.

Located near Century City Mall, the restaurant is something you shouldn’t miss and must pay a visit. Bohemia Cafe and Tap House has a bit of a laid-back touch to it, with the fairy lights and dream catchers that adorn the interior, while gears and dark walls scream steampunk with class. One noticeable design is their bold neon sign at the entrance, where customers can enjoy taking pictures.

Hang-out and chill, the restaurant can seat around 30 people

They wanted to incorporate the same design of the former establishments

Bohemia Cafe and Tap House is a hang-out spot for your pre- and post-late nights or pub crawls. Customers can expect a menu filled with pescetarian comfort food full of unique twists and memorable flavors.

Fizzo (non-alcoholic) (Php 160), Drop Zone (Php 160), and Tropical Haze (Php 160)

“I wanted to create a menu where you can enjoy comfort food without feeling like you’re missing out on meat”, says Hazel on their pescetarian-friendly menu. Aside from the usual fries as bar chow, they’ve elevated their menu by adding unique dishes such as the Uni Cream Pasta (Php 265).

It has rich uni blended with their signature cream sauce and topped with more fresh uni, and has to be one of the best-tasting pasta dishes in Poblacion.

    Uni Cream Pasta (Php 265)

    Portabello Mozza Burger (Php 32)

Your trip isn’t complete without a famed childhood comfort food, the Twister Fries (Php 195), which comes with a Curry Ketchup. For something light yet filling, try their Shrimp Pesto Quesadilla (Php 195).

Tofu Mushroom Teriyaki Rice (Php 265)

    Whiskey Sour (Php 345)

Sticking to their pescetarian menu, Bohemia offers a one-of-a-kind burger that is not only healthy but also exciting: the Portabello Mozza Burger (Php 320). It’s a definite treat for those who want to enjoy a good burger without the guilt brought about by meat. For something to fill your stomach before drinking, the Tofu Mushroom Teriyaki Rice (Php 265) is creamy at the same time savory.

They’re also a home for Nipa Brew, a local and straightforward crafted beer. They serve it on the tap and has a lot of variety, from the non-alcoholic Fizzo to the Professor’s Brew IPA which expats love. If beer isn’t your choice of poison, you can choose from one of their cocktails. We recommend the classic Whiskey Sour (Php 345) and the Strawberry Basil Smash (Php 300).

Bohemian also has a lot of activities in every week. They hold an open mic night on some days or you can simply join their Netflix and chill night where they play a movie all night long.

Palm Grill in Quezon City: Discover the Bold Flavors of Zambasulta Cuisine
Palm Grill in Quezon City is a one-of-a-kind dining destination that brings the authentic cuisine of South of Mindanao to Luzon. Established in 2017, Palm Grill proudly serves the rich flavors, vibrant culture, and storied history of the Zambasulta region—Zamboanga, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi—offering diners a rare opportunity to explore Southern Mindanaon dishes without leaving Metro Manila. Known as the only authentic Southern Mindanaon restaurant in Luzon, Palm Grill goes beyond simply serving food. It showcases culinary traditions deeply rooted in Tausug and Zamboangueño heritage, highlighting ingredients and cooking techniques that are not commonly found in mainstream Filipino restaurants. A must-try for first-time diners is the Dulang (Php 1,119)—a specialty tray traditionally served during royal banquets. This curated sampler features a variety of Palm Grill’s signature dishes, making it the perfect introduction to the bold and layered flavors of Zambasulta cuisine. Presented generously and meant for sharing, it reflects the communal spirit of Southern dining. Another standout is the Tiyula Itum (Php 560), a striking black beef soup from the Tausug community. Cooked with lemongrass, galangal, turmeric, garlic, onions, and pepper, its distinctive dark color comes from burnt coconut meat, which imparts a deep, smoky richness. Often described as “Bulalo 2.0,” it offers a comforting yet complex flavor profile that surprises and delights. For something hearty and satisfying, the Beef Satti (Php 300) delivers skewered beef served with a flavorful sauce that perfectly balances sweet, savory, and spicy notes. It’s a beloved Southern staple that captures the bold personality of Mindanao’s cuisine. Through its thoughtfully prepared dishes and dedication to authenticity, Palm Grill continues to champion the culinary identity of Zambasulta. For diners in Quezon City seeking flavors beyond the usual Filipino fare, Palm Grill offers an immersive experience—where history, culture, and cuisine come together in every bite.
