  • TA-KĀ in Makati: Burger Joint Inspired by Surf Culture and Community
  • TA-KĀ is a burger joint located on Doña Carmen Street in Poblacion, Makati, serving burgers, sandwiches, and comfort food in a laid-back setting inspired by surf culture and community.

Owned by Keith Samarita and Celina Garcia-Samarita, TA-KĀ began as a food truck in December 2022 before expanding through weekend pop-ups and market appearances. The concept eventually grew into a restaurant, opening its permanent space in December 2024.

The name TA-KĀ comes from the Visayan slang pinataka or pataka, a playful expression that loosely means “whatever goes” or doing things freely and spontaneously. Inspired by surf culture and its sense of community, the restaurant was created as a place where people can gather, share stories, and enjoy good food and drinks.

The menu is built around nostalgic flavors, family-inspired recipes, and dishes influenced by the experiences and traditions that shaped the people behind the brand. While the owners have no formal culinary training, their love for cooking and family gatherings continues to influence the concept.

The restaurant uses 100% beef, with carefully selected cuts and a balanced meat-to-fat ratio. Its patties are cooked similarly to steak and only semi-smashed to retain their juices. Burgers are served on brioche buns.

Among its signature offerings is the TA-KĀ Cheeseburger (Php 480), which highlights the restaurant’s approach to classic burgers and Classic “No Fuss” Cheeseburger (Php 470)
