Izakaya Terra Japanese Restaurant in Makati: Bringing Fukuoka-Style Dining to the Metro
A new destination for authentic Japanese cuisine has quietly opened its doors in Legazpi Village, Makati, as Izakaya Terra Japanese Restaurant begins its soft opening phase. True to its roots, Izakaya Terra highlights beloved Kyushu dishes, using key seasonings such as sweet soy sauce and yuzu kosho sourced directly from Kyushu to preserve the region’s authentic flavors. Complementing these are other classic Japanese offerings, including fresh sashimi and carefully prepared simmered dishes that showcase the natural taste of each ingredient.

Each dish is designed to highlight the natural taste, texture, and balance of the ingredients—hallmarks of Kyushu-style Japanese cooking. Rather than relying on heavy seasoning, the kitchen emphasizes precise technique and thoughtful preparation, allowing the quality of the ingredients to speak for themselves.

Signature dishes include Hakata no Goma Buri, an original take on the famous Hakata sesame mackerel using marinated yellowtail sashimi, as well as Terra’s Goma Buri, served with a rich and creamy sesame paste.
Hearty comfort dishes like the slow-simmered Beef Tendon and Daikon, cooked for eight hours, and Miso-Stewed Hormone are also must-tries.

The drink menu is equally impressive, featuring a wide selection of sake, shochu, wine, and craft beer.
The restaurant is situated on the ground floor of The Grand Midori condominium in Makati, offering an intimate and refined setting perfect for after-work dinners and relaxed evening gatherings.
The space offers 18 counter seats, 36 table seats, and a private room that can accommodate up to 12 guests, making Terra a versatile dining destination suited for everything from casual solo evenings to group gatherings, business meals, and client entertainment.
During its soft opening, Izakaya Terra operates from 5:00 p.m. onward, welcoming guests into a cozy space that reflects the warmth and understated elegance of a traditional Japanese izakaya.
At present, the restaurant offers counter seating, giving diners a front-row view of the culinary process and fostering a close interaction between guests and chefs. In the coming weeks, Izakaya Terra plans to expand its seating options to include table seating as well as traditional horigotatsu, or sunken kotatsu-style seating, for a more immersive and comfortable Japanese dining experience.
