A Family Legacy in Baking and Gelato
Caramia’s history began with the Moran family, whose background in the baking industry includes Tessie Moran’s experience at Red Ribbon.
Following the sale of Red Ribbon to Jollibee in 2005, the family took over Amici, a pizza and pasta restaurant at Don Bosco. They later acquired gelato-making equipment from Italian priest Fr. Gianluigi Colombo, continuing the technique he used to prepare gelato at Amici Di Don Bosco.
In 2009, the family established Caramia Cakes & Gelato, opening its first branch in Greenhills.
Brothers Philip and Paolo Moran took active roles in the company’s development. Philip returned to the Philippines in 2009 to help lead its expansion, while Paolo, who received formal culinary training in Italy, oversees product development and innovation for Caramia and Amici.
Its Glorietta branch officially opened on September 6, 2019, and the brand has since grown to approximately 70 locations nationwide.
