  • Camiña Balay nga Kawayan in Guimaras Islands: The Perfect Place to Escape Manila
  • A sister branch of the Camiña Balay nga Bato in Ilo-ilo City, Camiña Balay nga Kawayan is the perfect place to escape the busy urban city of Manila. Owned by Mr. Gerard and Mrs. Luz Camiña, Balay nga Kawayan opened its gate to the public last 2011.

What makes Camiña Balay nga Kawayan stand out is the farm tour they have and the banquet of local Guimaras cuisine present, giving its guests a glimpse of the countryside the town of Guimaras has to offer. The whole place is made of bamboo and is adorned with pieces of furniture made from narra and mahogany wood.  Aside from the furnitures, the place uses machuca tiles and capiz windows, giving the place the old country-side feel to its local and foreign patrons.

Camiña Balay nga Kawayan offers a healthy local Guimaras menu that uses fresh organic ingredients grown from the owner’s own garden. Some of their best sellers include the following:

    Pork Binuog

    Grilled or  fried bangus

    Buttered Shrimp

Camiña Balay nga Kawayan can accommodate about 50-60 guests. Aside from their clients that are locally from Guimaras or Filipino nationals, they also receive foreign guests that are usually Koreans, Japanese, or Americans. Their menu is usually good for sharing, but guests can go for an all-you-can-eat option, but taking out leftovers is strictly prohibited. It’s best to reserve a day before to make sure you can be accommodated.

For guests who wish to visit the place,  fees are as follows:

    •  Php 150 per person (minimum of 10  pax) inclusive of a farm tour, complementary calamansi juice, and a choice between 2 kinds of fresh fruits  available
    • Php 500 per person (minimum of 10 pax) inclusive of a farm tour, all-you-can-eat buffet, and complementary calamansi juice

You can find Camiña Balay nga Kawayan along the Guimaras Circumferential Road in Sibunag, Guimaras.
