From musicals, theater plays, compelling art exhibitions, trade fairs to attending the biggest cosplay convention in the country, events this weekend will leave you wanting more.

    The 32nd Negros Trade Fair (Sept. 27 – Oct. 1)

    Brace yourself for more mouth-watering delicacies from the island of Negros. The fair is about the creativity of the Negrenses in terms of art, design, and culture. The Association of Negros Producers (ANP) will launch The 32nd Negros Trade Fair, that is set on September 27 – October 1, 2017, at the Glorietta Activity Center. This is the country’s longest-running provincial trade fair!

    Exhibit on Fujian Ware (until Oct. 1)

    Fujian ware (ceramics from the Song-Yuan period that existed from the 11th – 14th century) that were exported to the Philippine islands 700 – 900 years ago, continue to serve as active witnesses of the participation of the Philippines in the thriving maritime trade in the South China Sea. Come and see these treasures that will be presented by the Ayala Museum, running from September 5 to October 1, 2017!

    Attitude of the Mind (Sept. 26 – Dec. 3)

    Get to know National Artist for Music Jose Maceda on his 100th birthday as the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) presents Attitude of the Mind from September 26 to December 3.The exhibit will open at 4:30 pm on September 26 followed by the Cassettes 100 performance at the Main Theater Lobby at 6 pm. The exhibit runs until December 3, 2017. Attitude of the Mind may be viewed daily from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am to 6 pm.

    Distinct Refinements (until Oct. 28)

    Indeed, the Philippines is a big country with a nation of diverse cultures. We have been conquered and influenced by a number of colonizers and as a result, our preserved culture has and is still going through a lot of changes. This event highlights the creative niceties of homegrown artists from the regions and practices that originated and developed independently from expressions in Manila, taking place from June 22 to October 28, 2017, at the Tall Galleries, Metropolitan Museum of Manila.

    The Sound of Music (Sept. 27 – Oct. 15)

    The Sound of Music was first played on Broadway in 1959. It follows the story of Maria, a governess who is into music, who made a difference in the life of the Von Trapp family. It was set in Austria in the beginning of the World War II. It popularized the hit songs “Do-Re-Mi” and “My Favorite Things.” Filipino audience of the hit stage play The Sound of Music will be treated for a Manila run to be held at The Theater at Solaire which will open on September 27, 2017 at The Theatre at Solaire, Solaire Resort & Casino, 1 Aseana Avenue, Entertainment City, Paranaque City.

    Taiwan Expo at SMX Convention Center (Sept. 29 – Oct. 1)

    For those who haven’t visited Taiwan, the expo will serve as a comprehensive intro to this little beautiful island just north of the Philippines. Exhibitors come from various industries in Taiwan – technology, tourism, food, lifestyle, and more. This expo will be featuring over 200 exhibitors and thousands of Taiwanese products, technology, and services, at the SMX Convention Center from September 29 to October 1.

    Cosplay Mania 2017 (Sept. 30 – Oct. 1)

    Founded in 2008, Cosplay Mania is the biggest Convention in the country. Cosplay.ph is a Philippine-based cosplay organization and website and is also the team behind Cosplay Mania. Cosplay Mania is a cosplay-centered convention in the Philippines, held annually every final quarter of the year. Come celebrate a fun-filled cosplay-centered convention at Cosplay Mania 2017, happening on September 30 – October 1, 2017, at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City!

    Short + Sweet Theatre Festival Manila (Sept. 30 – Oct. 1)

    Short + Sweet Theatre Festival Manila’s fourth Season is in its final stretch! Expect it to be sweeter, and better! Block off all weekends between September 15, 2017 (Friday) and October 1, 2017 (Sunday) as they’ll be bringing in more plays and different directors! Witness this event at the Power Mac Center Spotlight, Circuit Lane, Circuit Makati. See all the 10-minute plays on Sept. 30 and catch the best of them perform on October 1.

    The Merry Widow (Sept. 30 – Oct. 1)

    The Merry Widow is a story of forbidden and rekindled love, wealth, power, and deceit. The story is set in Paris, the City of Love, right around the 1900s when illicit affairs and a free-wheeling lifestyle were deemed taboo. Catch the latest offering of the Philippine Ballet Theater as they present The Merry Widow on September 30 and October 1 at the CCP Main Theater!
