  • Japanese Embassy Issues Advisory on Changes in Visa Application
  • The Philippines’ Japanese Embassy just recently issued an advisory regarding the changes in the scope of acceptance of visa application.

The Embassy of Japan in the Philippines processes Visa Application as described below for the time being to pay the maximum consideration to the prevention of infection by applicants, as well as to carry out its urgent duties.

    1. The only application for the following Visas is accepted:
      1. Diplomatic or Official Visas
      2. Visas to be issued for humanitarian consideration or urgent need
      3. Application for Visa for foreign nationals eligible for Phased Measures toward Resuming Cross-Border Travel (Updated on October 1, 2020)
*This is applicable to Philippine nationals and other nationals who have been legally residing in the Philippines as well.
    1. Application Procedure
      1. The applicant can visit the embassy to apply for a visa directly in person.
        • In terms of visa application of students and technical intern trainees whose sending/accepting organization is the same, a representative with the authorization letters from every applicant can apply.
        •  Accepting time: 8:40 a.m. to 11 a.m., Monday to Friday except for the embassy holidays (Applications after the accepting time will not be accepted)
      2. Documents
        • Please refer to the relevant pages here
        • For applicants mentioned in 1 (c) above, please refer to mofa.go.jp. (Required documents for the visa application)
      3.  Incomplete requirements for visa application will not be accepted. Additional documents may be requested if necessary.
      4. Due to a large number of applications submitted to the embassy at this time, the embassy may need a longer time to process than usual. There is no indication of the standard processing period.
      5. The embassy cannot accommodate requests for early release of passports for the scheduled date of departure, or inquiries regarding the status of the application for smooth examination. The applicant will be contacted when the application is processed.
