  • Toyota PH Celebrates 30 Years; Donates 30 Vehicles to Gov’t
  • Toyota Motor Philippine Corporation (TMP) celebrates its 30th year in the Philippines as a testament to serving the extra mile to innovate and give back to the community “Always Better Cars, Always Better Lives”.

The celebration event for Toyota Motor Philippines’ 30 years in the country was celebrated with Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte and President of Toyota Motor Corporation, Akio Toyoda

During their Anniversary Celebration at the Grand Hyatt Manila, TMP President Satoru Suzuki thanked the Filipino people for the support the company has received through the years.

The New Toyota Innova released last year

TMP Vice Chairman Mr. Alfred V. Ty mentioned that the recently launched Toyota Vios is a registered vehicle in the government’s Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy (CARS) program. “Today, I challenge myself to steer TMP from being a car manufacturer into a total mobility provider company”, he said.

Toyota Motor Corporation President Akio Toyoda thanked the Toyota investors, partners, and the Filipino people.

Present in the event was Mr. Akio Toyoda, President of Toyota Motor Corporation, who remembers that their original incorporation started in 1961. “Unfortunately, the partnership [was] met with great difficulties…, but we are here now, never again to stop our business.” He took a selfie on stage with the crowd and was met with loud cheers.

President Rodrigo Duterte hopes to continue working with TMP to provide a sustainable Philippine society.

As the guest of honor and keynote speaker, President Rodrigo Duterte promised during his speech to protect the business community TMP is a part of. “[I] will ensure a level playing field for you to thrive on as long as you obey the laws of the land and safeguard the welfare of your people and [the] general public.” He went on to praise Toyota’s community efforts. “Continue to become an example for other corporations to emulate. Show [everyone] that big corporations can give back to their communities.”

A total of thirty (30) locally-produced units, in commemoration of TMP’s 30th anniversary, was presented to President Duterte

The evening was also a momentous occasion thanks to a vehicle donation that highlights the Philippine government and TMP’s collaboration in revitalizing the Philippine automotive manufacturing industry. Mr. Toyoda, Mr. Ty, and Mr. Suzuki handed President Duterte twenty keys to the All New Vios and ten keys for their Innova, a total of thirty (30) locally-produced units, in commemoration of TMP’s 30th anniversary.

The Tamaraw FX, named after the Philippine native animal, was the household car of Filipinos for many years. Toyota celebrated the innovation of updating the vehicle to the latest Innova model.

Those who have been in Manila for a long time will remember riding the Toyota Tamaraw FX, a staple family car of many Filipinos, or the Corollas, a choice for many businessmen. 30 years on and Toyota still continues to be the go-to vehicle for Filipinos as they further bridge what they can do and what they can achieve with their mission to deliver better cars.
