  • For Filipinos, the so-called “Ber” months only means one thing: Christmas is near!

    In Metro Manila, it is tradition to decorate different cities with festive adornments and bright lights. From Christmas trees to gates, lights are what makes the holidays more heart-heartwarming. A number of malls and parks have already started decorating and lighting up the cities.

    Let Philippine Primer give you some places on where to see Christmas lights in Manila, a perfect activity with your friend and family this weekend!

    Ayala Avenue (Makati City)

    Makati citizens, there’s no need to travel far as Ayala Land has brought festive lights to the city! Last November 3, 2017, the much-awaited lighting of the Ayala Avenue in Makati City took place, leaving its audience in awe and in full amazement. Makati Central Business District will be adorned with intricate Filipino patterns from various regions nationwide. These patterns are applied to gigantic representations of Christmas symbols, transforming the city itself into truly Filipino Christmas landmarks.

    Festive of Lights, Ayala Triangle Gardens (Makati City)

    Another sight to behold! One of the famous parks in the metro is the Ayala Triangle Gardens. Aside from their expansion, the yearly Christmas lighting is something to look forward. After a successful Christmas street lighting ceremony celebration that was held last November 3, 2017, Ayala Land once again left its audience in awe and complete amazement in the launch of the Festival of Lights in Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati City.

    Northern Lights at Ayala Malls Vertis North (Quezon City)

    Make your way to north this weekend! Spreading the magic of Christmas, Ayala Land, Inc. (ALI) gave us all the first-ever Vertis Northern Lightsso-called because it’s located at one of their newest multi-purpose estates, Ayala Vertis North. It draws inspiration from Makati’s Festival of Lights, letting those from the north (primarily Quezon City), experience their own Christmas light and sound show.

    56-foot tall Christmas Tree, Circuit Makati (Makati City)

    We’re only a few steps away from Christmas and Makati City is bring their game face on with their colorful Christmas lights display. Take some pictures over the weekend at Circuit Makati with their 56 foot tall Christmas Tree. The gigantic tree is adorned with about 250,000 dazzling lights that follow a distinctive pattern of native Filipino weaves present in different regions in the country. To add excitement, people can access the tree from inside out, leaving a more immersive experience for all. Aside from the tree itself, it is also accompanied by a gigantic Christmas ball that creates a visual feast which promises to delight everyone and leave them in awe and complete amazement.

    Christmas Musical Street Light Tunnel (Ortigas, Mandaluyong City)

    At the heart of the business district of Ortigas is a bright light tunnel waiting to be explored. The path is strewn with 2,368 pixels and 13 mini searchlights. Visitors can take photos from beneath and walk pass it. The Christmas Musical Street Light Tunnel will be open until January 7, 2018. It is part of Ortigas & Co.’s other holiday offerings, which include a Christmas display along Tiendesitas, a Christmas village at Greenhills. Other than this there are some night markets and some stalls to watch out for.

     

    Policarpio Street (Mandaluyong City)

    Policarpio Street in Mandaluyong is widely known for its vibrant houses covered in different Christmas lights. Each year the residents make sure to entertain everyone, making it a must-visit spot in Metro Manila. On some years, some decorators would change themes and add music to their street. It’s no wonder that every year, this street is filled with spectators and watchers waiting and taking pictures of the different house. Although the streets are small, different nationalities and locals come over to witness the festivity of lights.
