See the “Northern Lights” at Ayala Malls Vertis North
Southerners have always had it good whenever Christmas comes around the corner. There are the many bazaars that feel like they’re always held at the World Trade Center or the SMX Convention Center (Noel Bazaar, World Bazaar Festival, etc.). There are the food parks and foodie areas (though the North is catching up to that), but one thing is certain: Northerners have never had an experience quite like Ayala’s Festival of Lights… until tonight.
Spreading the magic of Christmas, Ayala Land, Inc. (ALI) gave us all the first-ever Vertis Northern Lights, so-called because it’s located at one of their newest multi-purpose estates, Ayala Vertis North. It draws inspiration from Makati’s Festival of Lights, letting those from the north (primarily Quezon City), experience their own Christmas light and sound show.

Launched yesterday, November 16, it’s a dazzling light and sound display never before seen in this part of Metro Manila. The centerpiece of the display is the giant Cathedral, covered with thousands of pixel lights that can be controlled individually according to award-winning Ayala Lights and Sounds director Voltaire de Jesus.

Inspired by the Filipino tradition of Simbang Gabi, it transforms the grounds beside ABS-CBN Vertis Tent into something that people from all over Quezon City (and towns beyond) will surely appreciate. It veers away from the classic red and green colors of Christmas and gives everyone who watches it something they’ll surely want to go back to over and over again.

Accompanying the light show will be three musical medleys with three distinct themes — Pinoy Fiesta by Roy del Valle, which features Christmas songs that every Filipino is bound to know; Traditional Christmas by Von de Guzman, a showcase of Christmas classics that every nationality will be able to relate to; and our personal favorite, Techno Christmas by Tris Suguitan, which gives Christmas tunes something that millennials will surely appreciate.

“Christmas is the most awaited season of the year, and to show our gratitude to the communities and people around us, ALI thought it was time to bring our award-winning Christmas light and sound show to northern Metro Manila. This will allow residents of the north to experience and immerse themselves in the sights, colors, and sounds of Christmas here in Quezon City,” said Jay Teodoro, Estate Head of Vertis North.
The Vertis Northern Lights can be seen every day from November 16 to January 8, 6 pm to 10 pm, with shows happening every 30 minutes. Apart from the Vertis Northern Lights, ALI will also bring various holiday-themed activities at Ayala Malls Vertis North, Seda Vertis North, and ABS-CBN Vertis Tent — from Christmas bazaars and holiday sales to Christmas carols at the hotel lobby, you can expect a lot of things to go down during the holidays at Vertis North.
