  • 5 Customized Starbucks Drinks For Coffee Adventurers
  • We all know that Starbucks baristas can customize drinks for us. They are usually very helpful and obliging to any special drink request. While we try to be adventurous with our drinks, it might be hard to choose which syrups, milk or coffee go well together. It would be a waste of money if our venturesome recipe didn’t turn out as expected.

To save you the trouble, here are some customized drink recipes you can try on your next visit to Starbucks:

Frappuccino a la Black Forest Gateau

If you love black forest cakes, then you might enjoy this ice blended drink. It tastes like a black forest cake but more creamy and milky (and still caffeinated!). If you want a stronger taste, you can switch the White Mocha Frappuccino to Dark Mocha Frappuccino.

This drink was personally suggested by Emman, a barista in Starbucks Waltermart – Chino Roces, Makati.

How to order: Order White Mocha Frappuccino with raspberry syrup (Tall – one pump, Grande – two pumps, Venti – three pumps)

    Boosted Milk Tea

For bubble milk tea lovers, this is the closest we can get to a nice and comforting milk tea from Starbucks. This customized tea drink tastes a lot like our beloved milk tea with a subtle hint of caffeine. It’s sweet, creamy, and aromatic. And although Starbucks doesn’t have pearls or tapioca balls, coffee jelly is what gives fun to this drink.

This was suggested by Matt, a barista in Starbucks Greenbelt 1, Makati.

How to order: Order English Breakfast Tea Latte with two pumps of white mocha syrup, two pumps of caramel syrup, and coffee jelly. Be sure to use breve (half-and-half milk). This is ideal for a Tall-size drink, but you may adjust the syrup depending on your preferred sweetness level.

    Undertow (shot)

Undertow is said to be officially offered in only one Starbucks roastery in Seattle. If you’re not a fan of strong espresso drinks but need caffeine boost for the day, give Undertow a try. The breve at the bottom acts much like a chaser. After consuming the first layer of espresso, it will shortly be followed by the cold milk that will remedy the strong aftertaste of the coffee. It is best to drink Undertow right after it’s served, otherwise, it will quickly turn lukewarm.

This drink was suggested by Miles Maristela, a Starbucks store manager in Canada.

How to order: Start with cold breve with two pumps of vanilla syrup. And then, carefully pour the hot doppio espresso over using a latte spoon.

    Butterbeer

Potterheads surely know Butterbeer. The fictional drink has been made real with different interpretations and versions of the recipe. Basically, we imagine butterbeer as not wildly alcoholic but rather buttery and very sweet. We’ll probably be dancing around because of sugar rush rather than intoxication. Give this Harry Potter-inspired Starbucks drink a try!

This was another generous suggestion by Miles, a Starbucks store manager in Canada.

How to order: Order Creme Frappuccino base with two pumps of caramel syrup, two pumps of hazelnut syrup, and caramel drizzle. This is ideal for Tall, but feel free to adjust the syrup pumps depending on your taste.

Dark Mocha Frappuccino a la Panna Cotta

Remember the featured Starbucks drink Dark Mocha Panna Cotta Frappuccino? You’ll be glad to know you can have it back and anytime with this customized drink. The whipped cream is a substitute for the soft custard in a panna cotta dessert. When you sip the drink from the bottom, you get a delightful blend of sensation that starts from the cream, followed by the sweet caramel and finished off by the bittersweet dark mocha. It’s smooth, creamy, and comfortingly bittersweet!

This customized drink is a personal favorite of the writer.

How to order: Whipped cream should go first at the bottom, followed by caramel drizzle, then Dark Mocha Frappuccino. You may opt for an additional caramel drizzle or chocolate powder on top.
