SDA Manila promotes the Italian language and culture in the Philippines, and creates opportunities for cultural partnerships and linkages between the Filipino and Italian communities, providing windows for cultural growth for both countries.

LyrOpera is an opera company known for presenting opera productions and operathemed shows of outstanding quality with its string of successful productions utilizing both local and international talents. The two organizations teamed up to bring a refreshing spin on the highest form of art, the opera.

L’Opera on Wheels is a unique format to make the classic opera accessible to a broader audience.

SDA Manila and LyrOpera highlights opera as the pinnacle of the arts by featuring opera from Italy, the country where the great art form was born. As homage to the Italian “Sommo Poeta”, Dante Alighieri, L’Opera on Wheels will be featuring Giacomo Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, a one act comic opera inspired from Dante’s Inferno Canto XXX.

The Philippine production will be lead by internationally acclaimed opera singer, Noel Azcona who plays con man Gianni Schicchi who pretends to be the dying Bouso Donati in order to reverse the wealthy man’s will in favor of his family.

Gianni Schicchi premieres on Feb. 12 at the TIU Theater and will run until Feb. 26, 2017. All theater performances will be at the newly-reconstructed TIU Theater in Makati. Tickets are available at Ticket World website and outlets.
