Pokémon Sun and Moon takes place in the Alola Region, a group of four islands where both endemic and foreign Pokémon have thrived for many generations. It includes new features and hundreds of new Pokémon, along with old ones sporting new forms called “Alola Forms”.
One of the features unique to Pokémon Sun and Moon is the Island Challenge Trial, a replacement for the classic gym leader battles seen in previous games in the series. Island Challenge Trials involve challenging the island Kahuna, picked by the island’s protector Pokémon called a Tapu: the guardian diety of .
There’s also a new way of battling in Pokémon Sun and Moon: Battle Royal! The Pokémon franchise has always featured one-on-one or two-on-two trainer battles, but never a full-on battle pitting one trainer against multiple trainers all at once! It’s every trainer for himself/herself!
Another feature unique to Pokémon Sun and Moon is the introduction of Z-Moves. It’s a special move that harnesses the trainer’s and Pokémon’s full power. It requires special items called a Z-Ring and Z-Crystals for it to work, with each Pokémon type having access to a certain Z-Move.
Pokémon Sun and Moon also happen to be the only games without a waiting Pokémon League, though it already has its location: at the summit of Alola’s highest peak. The biggest challenge waiting for trainers in Pokémon Sun and Moon: the Battle Tree, where certain strong opponents from the Kanto Region await!
Pokémon Sun and Moon will be available for the Nintendo 3Ds on November 18, with those who start their adventure early getting a special Munchlax as seen in a video that’s gone viral since its release! To know more about Pokémon Sun and Moon, visit pokemon-sunmoon.com!
