#PathToLife: Parenting done right through FWD Life
The country’s fastest-growing insurance company, FWD Life Philippines has launched a consortium of thought leaders and industry experts in advocating empowered parenthood for Filipino families, last Tuesday (August 9) at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel.
FIRST-TIME PARENTS find new allies in journey to safer births
FWD Life, in partnership with the Department of Health (DoH) and the University of the Philippines-National Institutes of Health (UP-NIH), took its first big step to becoming instrumental in building a community that actively helps expectant parents prepare for the wide range of health and financial risks tied to pregnancy through a very meaningful talk with experts in the field of maternal cares. With the highlight of the consortium dubbed as “Path to Life,” FWD Life is putting emphasis on very important matters by expounding on the idea of safer birth and fostering a community of advocates through technology.
CELEBRITY MOM Stephanie Zubiri-Crespi hosting the event
The launching was complete with the participation of specific experts in maternal cares: Department of Health Spokesperson Dr. Enrique Tayag, obstetrics and gynecology expert Dr. Blanca De Guia, Head of Marketing for FWD Life Ms. Roche Vandenbeghe and Digital Channel Head Alexander Sarmiento. They all productively contributed informative and useful ways on how Filipino parents can empower themselves through technology and education. Celebrity moms Stepahanie Zubiri-Crespi and Rica Peralejo-Bonifacio also shared their own experiences through their journey to parenthood.
“First-time parents, most especially, need to have access to, or can communicate with third parties that can provide them with correct information, which will lessen their anxiety and improve their disposition about pregnancy,” said Dr. Tayag.
For Dr. De Guia, the goal to make expectant parents better prepared to face the challenges ahead. “Since the idea of safer birth is considered a high priority that affects the holistic wellness of an entire family, the Path to Life consortium aims to reach out to families whose mother, newborns and fathers will benefits from being ready for the risks that come with this life-changing journey.”

FWD also introduced its mobile-first community parenting app – “Ready to Parent”, as its contribution to the promotion of safer pregnancy. The application is designed to serve as a companion guide for first-time parents. It offers user-friendly features such as an online chat forum where expectant-parents can have a conversation with fellow community members, an online magazine for relevant pregnancy-related articles and a journal to track progress and capture their journey to parenthood. Ready to parent application can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
“Hopefully, parents who will be using this mobile app can also help build a more well-informed community of expectant mothers by sharing the information they access online.” Said Dr. Tayag who also believes that digital resources are most effective when used to improve the health-seeking behaviour of expectant moms.
A DANCE NUMBER from the speakers. What a fun way to end the occasion!
All in all, the launching turned exactly the way it should be – enjoyable at the same time, greatly informative.
