Henry Sy donates P400m UP campus in BGC
The country’s premier state university, University of the Philippines (UP), gets its 17th campus through Henry Sy Sr. with a nine-storey building in the progressive business district of Manila in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

The building, which costs P400m, was donated by Henry Sy Sr., the well-known and undisputed richest man in the Philippines behind the successful SM Investments Corporation.
This building was given to the Philippine’s premier institution of higher learning, as received by UP President Alfredo Pascual on behalf of the UP system. University of the Philippines BGC- Henry Sy. Hall will be home to postgraduate courses for the following UP Diliman units: College of Engineering, School of Statistics, School of Urban and Regional Planning, School of Labor and Industrial Relations; and College of Architecture, and an evening Juris Doctor program.
The new campus will have 29 classrooms, multi-purpose hall, office space, executive lounge, moot court, parking area and more, as the new campus spans 12,000 square meters for its total area.
Although none of the Sys studied in the said university, SM Prime Holdings president Hans Sy said that the building will carry his father’s advocacy for education. Also, UP and SM are long-time partners when it comes to nationwide college scholarship program, which provide free college education to thousands of scholars from financially-challenged families.
The campus is located at the 32nd street close to C5 Highway in Bonifacio Global City.
