Expats’ Guide: What is a beep™ card?
Updated as of January 8, 2020: beep™ card now costs Php 30 effective last January 1, 2020, in pursuant to the concession agreement between the Department of Transportation and AF Payments Inc.
The beep™ card is a stored-value smart card issued through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) between the Department of Transportation and Communications and AF Payments Inc., a joint venture company of the Ayala and the Metro Pacific Groups.

It was launched last July 2015 to provide easy and cashless payments in transportation vehicles and now starting in convenience stores. The card now costs Php 30 and is valid for four years. Its minimum balance should be at least equivalent to the minimum fare Php 12 while its maximum balance is up to Php 10,000.
