  • Medical Professionals in Manila: Dr. Angelo Lozada, MD
  • Indulging in food and drinks is one of our favorite things to do to celebrate, but sometimes we tend to go overboard which makes our health and body suffer. Over time, we discover problems concerning our digestive system.

This is a concern that is best handled by internal medicine specialists. Meet one of them through this medical feature of Dr. Angelo Lozada, MD.

    Dr. Angelo Lozada, MD
Internal Medicine Specialist – Subspecialty in Gastroenterology and Hepatology

Dr. Angelo Lozada is an internal medicine specialist with subspecialties in hepatology and gastroenterology. He obtained his medical degree at the University of Santo Tomas in 2006 and passed the bar exams the year after.

He completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in gastroenterology at Makati Medical Center (MMC) in 2010 and 2014, respectively. He also went to Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital, Catholic Medical Center in South Korean to get his subspecialization in hepatology in 2016.

Like most people, Dr. Lozada said that he too had no idea what to take-up at first. But since he excelled in Science, he took his shot and entered medical school. His uncles, who were also doctors, served as his inspiration and role model.

As an internal medicine specialist, Dr. Lozada is typically approached by patients with acid-related problems like GERD, gastritis, and hyperacidity, as well as problems concerning the liver like hepatitis, fatty liver, and at times, cancer.

Dr. Lozada treats his patients with utmost care and respect and treating them like they were his own family.

“I generally treat all patients like my family. Somebody that would make me think if my parents or my brother, sister or aunt were their patients, how would they treat them? I would want them to be treated specially and equally. So that’s how I approach them in general,” he furthered.

Juggling and managing his time is one of the main challenges Dr. Lozada experiences as a doctor. Finding the right balance between his career and personal life can prove to be hard especially if a lot of patients seek medical care. But during these times, he said he gets a hand from fellows who are always ready to help in emergency situations.

“We have a lot of help in the hospital from our residents. Our fellows those are doctors in training we have a lot of help from them. Younger doctors are a big help to us,” Dr. Lozada shared.

For those who aspire to be a doctor, he emphasized that there is no shortcut in becoming one. He also stressed on being focused and knowing what you want to do, where you want to go, and where you want to be in the future.
