Lazada vows support to entrepreneurs and SMEs by 2030

As years progress, getting into business is a dream for almost everyone, but for starting businesses, entrepreneurs, and SMEs, it would be a difficult goal to even reach a decent market scale.  This is why the e-Commerce online selling platform giant, Lazada, promises a better platform to create greater opportunities for more than eight million sellers and the local community.

Lourdes Yaptinchay, Global Chief Economist and Managaing Director Economic Intelligence Simon Baptist, Lazda Cheif Executive Officer Ray Alimurung, media personality and beauty queen Laura Lehmann, UNICEF Special Advocate Daphne Osena-Paez, and L’Oreal Country Managing Director Thibaut de Saint Victor)

Lazada’s primary goal is to help SMEs attain digital presence in the expanding e-commerce business and make it easier for them to create their own brand within the platform, at the same time maximizing the company’s logistic network.

Having overcome the early challenges of building up the businesses and industry in a nascent landscape, we now want to lead our ecosystem through the ear of robust digital transformation. Our focus is on creating a trusted platform connecting sellers to the Southeast Asian consumers. By enabling sellers with our technology and logistics’ capabilities, we want to help sellers flourish, to become sustainable businesses that contribute to Southeast Asia economic growth in the long run,” explained Ray Alimurung, CEO of Lazada, during the Lazada 11:11 Shopping Festival launch.

Lazada also takes into priority to empower more female entrepreneurs to play in the e-Commerce business.

“Women play a significant role in the digital economy, and an inclusive e-Commerce ecosystem is one that creates an empowering environment for women entrepreneurs. In supporting the local female community, Lazada has rolled out a few initiatives. For instance, our momprenuers programme provides stay-at-home mothers with free training and assistance, so they are equipped to run n online store while juggling family responsibilities. The programme is currently available in the Philippines, and we are looking to expand this initiative to other markets in Southeast Asia,” concluded Alimurung.
