  • Everyone’s favorite streaming app Netflix never ceases to impress us and always leave us wanting more with each release that they make. After releasing amazing titles last month, Netflix has cooked up another fantastic line-up for this month!

    The Holiday Calendar

    The Holiday Calendar is a tale of a struggling yet, a talented photographer who ends up inheriting an antique advent calendar. But there’s a catch, the advent calendar seems to have magical properties that allow it to predict the future. Can this calendar help our protagonist find love?

    House of Cards (Season 6)

    The epic saga of House of Cards finally comes to an end with their 6th season. With the death of Frank Underwood, one can only imagine what will happen as Claire Underwood begins her presidency. The 6th season promises new faces, as well as familiar ones to the fans of the series. The series is set to air just before the Midterm elections in the United States which makes the timing of the new season, impeccable.

    They’ll Love Me When I’m Dead

    They’ll Love Me When I’m Dead is a documentary dedicated to the late director, Orson Welles. The documentary begins with the return of Welles to America in the 70s up to his death in 1985. The making and filming of Welles’ unfinished film, The Other Side of the Wind will be the center of the documentary.

    Westside

    Westside is a new reality show by Netflix. The show follows the lives of nine Los Angeles musicians as they try to create their own showcase for a nightclub. The docuseries give their viewers a chance to see how these musicians come up with their music, from writing them to recording but also promises to give glimpses of events in the private lives of the musicians that would ultimately help them give birth to music.

    Medal of Honor

    Medal of Honor is an 8 part hybrid documentary and live action anthology. It portrays the sacrifices that have to be made that result in the highest military distinction, the Medal of Honor.

    The Sinner (Season 2)

    After their successful first season, The Sinner returns to Netflix with a new crime to solve. Detective Harry Ambrose returns to his hometown in rural New York to investigate the murder of a couple by their 11-year-old son. In a turn of events, Detective Ambrose is pulled into the darkness of his town.

    The Ballad of Buster Scruggs

    The Ballad of Buster Scruggs is a six-part anthology with each part tells different stories from the wild frontier. The Ballad of Buster Scruggs narrates the story of a sharpshooting songster. A robber wannabe gets his due in Near Algodones. Two traveling performers star in the gothic tale of Meal TicketThe Gal Who Got Rattled is the story of a woman on a wagon who finds an unexpected love, while in All Gold Canyon, a prospector mines for gold. Lastly, The Mortal Remains as ghosts laugh while judgment is rained upon a crew of strangers.

    The Kominsky Method

    The Kominsky Method tells the story of an aging actor who now makes his living as an acting coach and, his longtime agent and friend as they navigate the ups and downs of getting old. The series promises humor as well as a slice of life and the reminder that friendship never ages.

    The Final Table

    In what is Netflix’ new food competition, 24 chefs from around the globe will compete to impress some of the biggest names in the food industry. The Final Table is a fast-paced competition that will be judged by some of the world’s most notable chefs. Competitors will battle it out by twos in country-themed challenges. After a series of challenges, only one will emerge as the victor and earn their spot in The Final Table.

    Also, as October ends, another Filipino movie has been added to the Netflix line-up. The critically acclaimed Filipino historical biopic film, Heneral Luna, has made its way to Netflix on the 31st of October. The film, detailing the life of General Antonio Luna, who is considered to be one of the fiercest generals of the time. The film details his life and ventures as the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines up to his assassination in 1899.

    HENERAL LUNA will be available on Netflix beginning Oct. 31, 2018! Catch this critically acclaimed film and take a look back at the life of General Antonio Luna.

    The film was praised for its cinematography, plot, writing and acting. Heneral Luna was among the films selected for the 88th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language film, but the film did garner a nomination. The film has received numerous awards locally and was nominated at the 10th Asian Film Awards for Best Actor, Best Costume Design and Best Production Design.

    The film has also sprouted a sequel following its success and is said to be the first of a trilogy.
