Phantom of the Opera Returns to Manila 2019
Theater fans, here’s some good news: the award-winning musical Phantom of the Opera returns to Manila for a run in 2019 at The Theater at Solaire as a part of their new world tour series!

The musical first took the world by storm during its premiere in 1986 at London’s West End and it has won various awards including the prestigious Laurence Olivier Award and the Tony Award. It is Broadway’s longest running show and has toured over 147 cities and 42 countries. The musical first captured the hearts of many when they first performed in Manila back in 2012 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

The love story, based on a novel by Gaston Leroux, centers on a young Christine Daae, the subsequent obsession of the Phantom; a mysterious figure who lives beneath the Paris Opera House. The musical takes place in 1881 as a flashback of Raoul, Visconte de Chagny when he attends an auction at the old opera house where the events of the musical take place.
Phantom of the Opera, currently on its 32nd year, has toured the world and has been translated into various languages including Japanese, Spanish and French. It has been produced in 28 countries across the six continents. It has also been made into a film starring Emmy Rossum, Gerard Butler and Patrick Wilson in 2004. Phantom of the Opera has also sprouted a sequel, Love Never Dies, that premiered in 2010 at the West End.
The musical is a tale of love, desire, betrayal, and revenge that is sure to leave theater fans, old and new, at the edge of their seats. Phantom of the Opera is currently being performed in London, New York, Denmark, Budapest, and Brazil. They’re also currently touring the United States of America.
