  • Just as black & white films gave way to colored ones and silent films gave way to talkies, so are movie theatres and television giving way to the internet.

Filipinos, undeniably, love watching TV shows and movies, and while cable has made it possible for us to watch foreign shows, content is still limited to the cable provider. This has led many to watch and download illegally. The arrival of video-streaming apps in the Philippines lessened piracy but there is still some limit to content.

Soon enough, another player will be entering the online video streaming market. On August 30, 2018, Globe Telecom unveiled its partnership with Amazon Prime Video. Though Amazon Prime Video has been available in the Philippines since 2016, it wasn’t too accessible. Moreover, Filipinos know Amazon as a shopping site and many are unaware that the company also provides video streaming services.

This offer will allow Globe users to watch movies and shows such as the critically acclaimed and award-winning Prime Original series Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, The Grand Tour, Emmy nominee and Golden Globe winner The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, all new seasons of The Man in the High Castle and more.
