Maria Lourdes Fernandez-Tapang, M.D.
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
If pain, weakness, and disability are things that hinder you from being your best self, Dr. Tapang is the one you should see. She is a physiatrist, or a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician, with a degree in Biology from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) as her pre-medicine course. She also took her internship and residency at the UST Hospital.
As someone who loves dancing, she is aware of how such activities exposes the body to weakness and injuries; this is why Dr. Tapang decided to specialize in physical medicine and rehabilitation, even if the field is not particularly known by many. She has been practicing with this specialty for more than 10 years.
She is also currently taking a masters degree in public health at the University of the Philippines Manila. As a physiatrist, Dr. Tapang works in a variety of environments including inpatient, outpatient, and consulting roles. She also cooperates with physical and occupational therapists.
