3rd Don Papa Art Competition Now Open for Entries
Don Papa Rum has launched the 3rd Annual Don Papa Art Competition that will hunt for the best artwork design to dress up the new Don Papa Limited Edition Art Canister to be launched in 2018. Besides their art reaching a global audience, the winning artist will also have their work exhibited at Art Fair Philippines 2018 and have the chance to tour on a different side of the world.
FIELD NOTES FOR PAPA ISKO. Henrielle Pagkaliwangan’s winning artwork became the featured design of the 2017 Don Papa Art Canister, which was distributed to different parts of the world.
During the launch of the 3rd Annual Don Papa Art Competition held at Dulo MNL bar in Makati, last year’s winner Henrielle Pagkaliwangan of Tin-Aw Gallery shared her exciting and fun-filled one-month sojourn to different parts of Europe, where she admired various European artworks and had art enthusiasts and rum connoisseurs admire her own work on the 2017 Don Papa Art Canister. Pagkaliwangan was the youngest and the only female contestant when she joined last year’s Don Papa Art Competition.
For this season, the next winning artist will receive an exclusive four-week “Artistic Residence Sojourn” in New York City, inclusive of roundtrip tickets, accommodation, and pocket money.

Independent artists, and gallery and museum representatives were also present to witness the launch of the 3rd Don Papa Art Competition.
This year, Don Papa Rum expanded the list of accepted art formats, which now includes digital art along with painting, drawing, photography, and print-making.
Don Papa Rum first released its limited edition Art Canister in 2016 and has since become a collectible item for both art lovers and Don Papa Rum patrons worldwide.
3rd Don Papa Art Competition Details:
Criteria for Entry:
- Must be based in the Philippines, a Filipino resident, and a Filipino citizen
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Must be represented by an art gallery
- Medium must be a two-dimensional, landscape format, and flat
- Must have a valid passport of at least one year
- Must go through online registration
Accepted Artwork:
- Painting/Drawing
- Photography
- Print Making
- Digital Art
Mandatories for Artwork:
- Space for Don Papa Rum logo (to be placed by Don Papa Rum upon digitizing)
- Horizontal landscape format
- Two-dimensional
- Accepted sizes: 2 ft. x 4 ft. / 3 ft. x 5 ft. / 4 ft. x 6 ft.
Deadlines:
- December 8, 2017 – Online registration
- January 18, 2018 – Submission of digital entries
- January 18-29, 2018 – Physical artworks may be requested from the artist
