Sy, Zobel in Forbes’ list of Asia’s Richest Families 2017
Two Filipino families once again claim their spots in the Asia’s Richest Families 2017 list by Forbes.
With a net worth of $20.1 billion, the Sy family went up to the 9th spot from being on the 12th last year. Their net worth also saw an increase from last year’s $12.8 billion. The family owns the country’s largest retail and property conglomerate, SM Investments Corporation.

While their net worth went up from $5.1 billion last year to $6.13 billion, the Zobel family didn’t see a rise in the rankings this year. From being the 37th richest in 2016, the family behind Ayala Corporation landed on the 43rd spot this year.

India’s Ambani family, which controls Indian telecom, power, and finance conglomerate Reliance Group, topped the list with a net worth of $44.8 billion.
The Korean clan behind Samsung Electronics, the Lee family went down to being the 2nd richest family in Asia with a net worth of $40.8 billion.
