Traslacion Route 2017: Manila
The city of Manila is currently celebrating the Feast of the Black Nazarene, culminating with the biggest religious act in the country: the annual Traslacion, or parade of the Black Nazarene through its streets.
An estimated 15-18 million people are expected to take part in the feast being held in Manila, Tagum City, and Cagayan De Oro City. Manila alone expects at least 2 million devotees to participate in the Traslacion.
The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) earlier released re-routing plans for today’s Traslacion based on the route they gave last January 3:
The MMDA also imposed a temporary truck ban along the stretch of Roxas Blvd. from Quirino Ave. to Anda Cir. and Osmeña Hwy. for the Traslacion. The truck ban started at 12:00 am on January 9 and will end at 1:00 pm the same day.
The United States Embassy also announced that they and their affiliated offices will be closed for the Traslacion. They will re-open tomorrow, January 10.
