Philippines, among world’s most attractive destinations for expats – HSBC survey
The country ranks first place as a “destination conducive for expatriates (expats) to feel closer to their partners.”

According to the 2016 Expat Explorer survey by multinational banking giant HSBC, Philippines is among the “world’s most attractive destination for expats seeking a healthier love life and social life,” as reported by Inquirer.
The country also ranked fifth when it comes to social life, and eighth for ease with integrating to locals. Overall, Philippines placed 37th out of 45 countries. According to one of the surveyed expats as reported by PhilStar, “the Philippines is a family-based culture. As soon as you enter a house the host/hostess will offer you the best chair plus food and drink. People want you to be comfortable and at home.” 45% of the expats surveyed said Philippines felt like home in 6 months.
According to HSBC Philippines president and CEO Wick Veloso, “Expats in the Philippines value their social life—how they and their families are able to feel at home. With good accommodations, access to more affordable education for their children and warm Filipino hospitality, expats in the Philippines is able to further their career progression while boosting network connections and enjoying a culture that make them feel they are family.”
The said Expat Explorer survey was conducted to 27,000 expats from 190 countries. Singapore topped the said list, with more than three in five expats seeing it as a good place to progress career.
