  • 5 things you shouldn’t miss at the World Street Food Congress
  • Street food defines a country’s culture and history. It connects with the masses, and represents what the average person eats on a daily basis. No other event highlights this better than the World Street Food Congress, happening from today till Sunday, April 24.

PREPARE FOR LONG yet oh-so-worth-it lines.

If you’re in BGC during the 5-day food extravaganza, here are 5 plus 1 things you should not miss:

    1. Pepita’s Kitchen’s Spicy Paella Lechon. Dubbed as the Lechon Queen, Pepita’s Kitchen definitely came to the event prepared with their specialty: the Spicy Paella Lechon. It may not be served on elaborate plates, but the suckling pig on display should be enticing enough for anyone who loves pork.

    2. Keng Eng Kee Seafood’s Seafood Tempura with 3 Singapore flavored dip. It’s a medly of deep-fried seafood covered in tempura batter with 3 dips you can only find in Singapore. What’s not to like?

    3. Sunset Warung Bali’s Bali BBQ Ribs. Barbecued ribs are already a rare site in the Philippines (unless you frequently visit places like Vikings or Gerry’s Grill). Getting a serving of these delicious ribs on the streets of BGC? Highly unlikely. That’s why they’re a must try.

Top: Grilled Lonngganisang Lucban, Sugar Glazed Squash Pilipit and Suman Sa Lihiya, Cassava Chips and Kiping Chips with Chili con Longganisa; Bottom: Sinuglaw and Satti from Mindanao

    4. Every Filipino food stall apart from Pepita’s. A little bit biased? Maybe. But these food stalls are definitely something you should not miss. They have your Filipino street food craving covered from North Luzon all the way to Mindanao with 5 stalls worth of Filipino goodness.

    5. Churros Locos’ Churros Sundae. Flying all the way from the United States, Churros Locos’ Churros Sundae is the perfect way to end your day at the World Street Food Congress. Churros + sundae? Sounds like a winner to anyone who loves desserts!

    PLUS:

    6. Street Food Demos. There’s a different presenter every day for the next five days, including one from the man who made all of this possible, KF Seetoh.

All stalls will definitely take you to street food heaven with so many flavors to enjoy, so there’s no reason for you to limit yourself to the stalls we’ve mentioned here. There’s authentic Penang Laksa, Braised Zhu Zhou Chicken made the way you’d have it in China, as well as a whole host of other street food that you’d associate with a certain country.

Oh, and did we mention forget live musical performances from Up Dharma Down and DJ Nina Saputil?
