PH campaign period for local posts officially begins
With the approaching Philippine nationwide election this May, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has already given the go signal for local candidates to start campaigning this March 26 for their respective government posts.

Originally scheduled to start on March 25, Friday, it was moved days after in observance of Good Friday during the Holy Week. The schedule is set to run until May 7, 2016.
With the start of the campaign period, various acts are prohibited during its extent, such as the appointment or hiring of new employees/salary increase for government agencies, construction of public works, and release/disbursement/expenditure of public funds.
On the other hand, the Philippine National Police (PNP) assures to maintain peace and order during the campaign, and asks the public to report any prohibited acts done during the period which may hamper order. Illegal campaign materials should be reported in accordance with Resolution No. 10049 providing the rules for R.A. 9006 or the Fair Elections Act, as an election offense case.
For commuters and motorists, be reminded of the proclamation rallies and motorcades in your place as heavy traffic may ensue during the campaign period. Check on alternative routes from your barangay officials if there are any.
