Food & Flair: A Food and Artisan Crafts Fair
The Podium and curator Lori Baltazar let us appreciate living and eating through a one-of-a-kind food and crafts fair.
“I’ve always been about championing home bakers”, enthused curator, Lori Baltazar.
DESSERT COMES FIRST by curator Lori Baltazar’s is the highlight of that Saturday’s festivities.
Food & Flair: A Food and Artisan Crafts Fair is a three-day fair that featured some of the country’s best and most promising dessert shops and craft stores. It was Lori’s first event with the Podium. “From home bakers, I moved on to savory things. Then, I also wanted to feature stores that sell things for the house, for the kitchen and for the table. Things that make you appreciate living more.”
And appreciate living, and eating, people did at the fair. There was the Magnum Manila booth that let the attendees make their own Magnum bar. They had a wide array of toppings to choose from. There were old-time favorites like crushed Oreos and chopped pistachios; and there there were new and interesting ones like grape nerds, chili flakes, and potato chips. It depends on how adventurous you want to be with your Magnum.
EXTRA GALORE! Personalize your Magnum bar with your choice of toppings…

After ice cream, one would look for something savory. Also present at the fair were Pizza Brava and Il Ponticello. Pizza Brava prepared their top-selling artisinal flatbreads. Each slice came with soda for only Php 140. Il Ponticello wowed everyone with their signature Porchetta Alla Romana, which is Php 230 per slice and Php 190 for an additional slice.
Il Ponticello’s Porchetta is always a crowd favorite.
HOUSEHOLD STAPLES from Craftsmith Living made with flair!
After something savory, it’s time to check out the stores that promote craft living. Live Like It’s Friday, Domesticity and Craftsmith Living were there to showcase their products. These stores take everyday items to a whole new different level. From aprons to table place cards to plates and cups, their artisinal products remind everyone to just enjoy life.
A UNIQUE OFFERING in this food fair: Dessert Comes First cookies! Order your own batch of personalized cookies for your events at Teaspoon Desserts.
It wouldn’t be a food fair if there were no desserts. Though it was difficult to choose just one delectable delight from each store, Primer recommends Alchemy‘s Chai Spice macarons, Brasserie CiCou‘s Kouign Amann s’mores, Teaspoon Desserts‘s Quezo de Bola Cheesecake, The Little Spatula‘s Midnight Sea Salt Brookies, Anghelica’s Desserts‘ Ube Leche Flan Cake and CRUkitchen‘s Dark Belgian Chocolate Decadence.
ALCHEMY’S MACARONS are ultimately and undeniably the best in the metro!
For the Saturday leg of the event, there was a book signing session. Lori gamely posed for pictures and signed copies of her book, Dessert Comes First. It is exclusively available at Fully Booked. Grab a copy and you will find the recipe for Lori’s favorite dessert – Baked New York Style Cheesecake.
Food and Flair: A Food and Artisan Crafts Fair further confirmed the fact home bakers and local craft artists are here to stay. Here’s hoping for more events like this in the future.
