The Borough
24-hour restaurants in Manila are a rarity, especially ones that serve tasty, non-fast food grub even in the wee hours of the morning. This is what makes The Borough a gem. This bar and restaurant serves comfort food 24/7, plus good entertainment by their many resident DJs on some weeknights. The interiors are classy and reminiscent of swanky New York bars, mostly made up of comfortable leather couch chairs and barstools with dark wood and metal fixtures.

The Borough’s menu is extensive, from main courses to a good liquor and cocktail list. They also have different menus for every time of the day. The Breakfast menu from 6 am to 11 am is composed of big day-starter meals like pancakes, French toast, meat and eggs, and power smoothies. The Lunch, Dinner and Late Night menu has appetizers, mains, burgers and sandwiches, pasta and dessert, as well as some all-day breakfast items.

One of The Borough’s bestseller starters is the Tomato Soup with Grilled Cheese Sandwich (P280). The sandwich is buttery, with lots of stringy mozzarella and gruyere cheese. The tomato soup is creamy, tangy and smoky, with a delicious little dollop of basil cream. It’s a blissful food combination. For something heavier, try the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich (P260). This is pulled pork in homemade crusty hoagie bread with crunchy coleslaw and thin, delicious potato chips. The meat is marinated in vinegar and barbecue sauce, making it very juicy and tender.

For dessert, Mom’s Milk and Cookies (P220) is a must-have. It’s chewy, freshly-baked cookies served with a bottle of cold milk for dipping. The homemade cookies have two or three different flavors that vary every day. The milk is made from a mix of pure milk and vanilla ice cream, making it all the more sinful.
