A plate of grilled pork and chicken with a glass of beer is a great way to cap off your day. Hoshimatsuri is an izakaya or Japanese bar, originally from Fukuoka, Japan. Currently run by Filipinos with a great love for Japanese food, the Japanese restaurant’s claim to fame is the Yakitori or grilled chicken, and Makati’s Japanese residents seem to approve.

Their Kushiyaki Moriawase or assorted grilled skewers featuring a medley of grilled meats and vegetables is an all-time favorite of many at Hoshimatsuri!

Additionally, one of their mainstays (and their most popular) is the torikawa or grilled chicken skin (Php 95/piece). It is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, just as you would expect from a place that specializes in everything grilled. We recommend adding a bit of shichimi togarashi or seven-flavor chili pepper for that extra kick.

Hoshimatsuri is really popular after work hours, but don’t let that deter you from visiting them during lunch. They have some really good lunch sets, like their Curry Udon Set with just the right amount of spice to get your appetite going.

Aside from this, the Japanese restaurant also serves freshly cooked seafood featuring salmon, maki, and tempura when you order their Salmon Yakizuke set meal.

For other set meals, you may also amp up your lunch or dinner with their Sushi and Soba set which includes maki rolls and a serving of chicken karaage!

The great thing about their set menu? They come with everything you could ever ask for, save the extra ramen for a tonkatsu set. And should you need more reason to go, you can cop a bottle of Shōchū to complete your Japanese food trip this side of Makati!

Whether you are on the look-out for a good serving of yakitori or a hearty helping of good Japanese food, Hoshimatsuri is the place for you to visit. The place gets pretty packed by night time, so if you are looking for a Japanese-style nightcap, make sure you call ahead of time.
