The restaurant is led by Chef Ryohei Kawamoto, who honed his craft at Kitcho in Osaka and trained at Tokyo’s famed Tsukiji Market before serving as private chef to the Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines. His years of discipline and precision now guide the restaurant’s culinary philosophy: food that emphasizes seasonality, simplicity, and balance.

Reopened in 2022 after a brief hiatus, Kyo-to quickly reclaimed its position as one of the country’s most distinguished dining destinations, earning a spot on Tatler Asia’s “Top 20 Best Restaurants in the Philippines”.

The restaurant accommodates only 30 guests at a time, divided among the kappo counter, four private rooms, and a main dining area. For those seated at the counter, the experience becomes a performance in itself, with Chef Kawamoto and his skilled team working gracefully in the open kitchen, preparing each course before your eyes.

Kyo-to offers on a tasting menu (Php 8,500+/head), focused on seasonal premium and market-fresh  produce imported from various prefectures of Japan. Each course reflects the best of seasonal and imported Japanese ingredients , carefully plated to express both artistry and harmony.

Among their seasonal menu is their Bonito, a sashimi plate with seared bonito with a smoky flavor and fresh tuna sashimi served with wasabi, lemon, and wakame seaweed on the side.

Whether enjoyed from the counter or in the privacy of a room, every visit feels like stepping into a carefully choreographed journey through the seasons of Japan.
