  • Imagine this: You just got out of bed, and you only have under an hour to prepare and leave for work. Since you’re too lazy to cook something decent, you simply grabbed a granola bar and an apple out of the fridge before you leave. Isn’t that too boring and unfulfilling? Now, now… don’t worry because we got you covered! Below are four quick and easy canned tuna recipes specifically made for busy workers like you.

    Quick Tuna Burger

    Ingredients:
    1 large egg, lightly beaten
    1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
    1/2 cup celery, finely chopped
    1/3 cup mayonnaise
    1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
    2 tbsp hot sauce
    6.4 oz  light canned tuna in water, drained
    2 tbsp butter
    4 hamburger buns, toasted
    Lettuce and sliced tomatoes (optional)

    Cooking directions
    1. Mix the first 6 ingredients; fold in tuna. Form into patties.
    2. In a large skillet, heat butter over medium heat. Cook patties until lightly browned.
    3. Serve on buns. Add lettuce and tomatoes, if desired.

     

    Assorted Onigiri Plate

    Tuna Mayo Onigiri
    Ingredients:
    120 g rice, cooked
    1/4 nori sheet
    1 pinch salt
    1 tbsp canned tuna, shredded
    1 tbsp mayonnaise

    Salmon Onigiri
    Ingredients:
    120 g rice, cooked
    1/4 nori sheet
    1 pinch salt
    1 tbsp salmon flakes, grilled
    soy sauce to taste

    Kani and Edamame Onigiri
    Ingredients:
    120g rice, cooked
    1 pinch salt
    1 pc crab stick
    30g edamame
    1 tsp sesame seeds

    Furikake Onigiri
    Ingredients:
    120g rice, cooked
    1 tbsp furikake

    Cooking directions:
    1. Mold the rice into small triangles.
    2. Put the ingredients for each recipe on each onigiri.
    3. Using a sheet of nori, wrap up the triangle of rice.

     

    Easy Tuna Wraps

    Ingredients:
    6.4 oz light canned tuna in water, drained
    1/4 cup celery, finely chopped
    1/4 cup spring onions, chopped
    1/4 cup canned water chestnuts, chopped
    3 tbsp red bell peppers, chopped
    2 tbsp low-fat mayonnaise
    2 tbsp mustard
    2 spinach tortillas (8 inches each)
    1 cup of lettuce, shredded

    Cooking directions:
    1. In a small bowl, mix the first seven ingredients until blended.
    2. Spread over tortillas; sprinkle with lettuce.
    3. Roll up tightly.

    Mediterranean Tuna Salad

    Ingredients:
    15 oz chickpeas, drained
    3 celery ribs, chopped
    1 small red bell pepper, chopped
    4 spring onions, chopped
    2 tbsp olive oil
    2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
    2 tbsp brown mustard
    1/2 tsp dried basil
    1/4 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp pepper
    10 oz canned tuna in water, drained
    4 cups lettuce, shredded
    1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled (optional)

    Cooking directions:
    1. In a bowl, combine the beans, celery, red bell pepper, and spring onions.
    2. In a small bowl, whisk the oil, vinegar, mustard, basil, salt, and pepper. Pour over bean mixture, then toss until evenly coated. Stir in tuna after.
    3. Serve over lettuce. Top with feta cheese if desired.
