Filip + Inna
Inspired by tradition. Made by Philippine artisans.
Filip + Inna is a social enterprise with a focus on indigenous weaving craftsmanship that creates timeless and unique pieces of clothing. Filip + Inna brings into each garment ancient techniques of weaving, embroidery and beadwork from different indigenous groups of the Philippines. Each piece of garment is created with the culture, passion, and artistry of home-grown weavers knit together with each warp and weft – creating a tapestry of beauty beyond time. A fusion of tradition with contemporary.
Filip + Inna’s mission is to create while also reviving – even preserving ancient traditions of the Philippines that are in danger of becoming lost. The company partners with groups of talented artisans across the Archipelago, giving them an opportunity to improve their livelihood in a sustainable way.
Filip + Inna started selling primarily in the United States in 2010 but saw an opportunity to introduce itself to the Philippine market through its collaboration with the modern brand Bayo, as well as invitations from the Ayala Museum and the iconic Filipina designer Josie Natori for ManilaWear. These started to unravel greater opportunities for Filip + Inna to expand its reach and bring its masterpieces to more Filipinos and even expatriates who want to own a piece of ancient tradition with a modern, stylish spirit. Filip + Inna has become an artisan garment that Filipinos wear with pride, elegance, and appreciation.
The Founder, Ms. Leonora Luisa Cabili
Len is the Founder and Creative Designer of Filip + Inna. Her love for the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines began as a child growing up in Iligan City in Mindanao. She fondly remembers visits to her home by the Maranaos in all their finery and her exposure to different Indigenous Peoples was further enhanced through Philippine folk dance. The impression they made on her is the heart of Filip + Inna
Creating timeless pieces, promoting indigenous culture, providing livelihood opportunities. These elements are woven at the very core of Filip + Inna as it continues to bring the indigenous Filipino art of weaving to the world.
From our hands to yours, may the beauty, depth and integrity of each garment bring a deep appreciation for what is distinctly Filipino – distinctly Filip + Inna.
