Metro Manila Malls to Change Operating Hours Starting November 11
In an attempt to suppress the looming holiday traffic, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has taken advanced measures by pushing the opening hours of malls around Manila to one hour later.
Beginning November 11, people may only start flocking to the malls at 11 a.m. during weekdays instead of the usual 10 a.m. Further, the MMDA has also set sail the no weekday sale policy for the same purpose.
As the holiday season slowly settles among the people in the Metro, it is, without saying, expected for malls to beam with a plethora of guests coming in for different purposes.
At the same time, the MMDA has come up with various action plans so the roads would not be entirely congested with a combination of those going to schools and offices and those dropping by malls.
Said plans foremost include pushing the operating hours of malls to one hour later, addition of security personnel within parking areas to avoid traffic gridlock, removal of obstructions on loading and unloading bays within mall vicinities, and limitation of non-perishable goods delivery between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. only.
Moreover, expect holiday sales to be limited on weekends as the no weekday sale policy is set to be implemented as well.
These will take effect beginning November 11, 2019 until January 10, 2020.
But worry not—because there are cafes taking refuge inside these malls where you can spend time as you wait for them to open!
These include Single Origin in Greenbelt 3 that opens as early as 7 a.m., Providore in SM Aura that opens at 8 a.m., as well as Tim Hortons and Starbucks in various malls that open either early in the morning or do not close at all.
