  • Just like that, we’re down to the last four months of 2019—a.k.a. we’re entering the most wonderful time of the year (cue in the Christmas songs).

    And to help you prep for the beginning of the ber months (and before you get caught up with putting up decorations and buying gifts), we have curated some of the best events happening this weekend!

    NU’EST Concert Segno in Manila (August 31)

    2019 truly is the year of K-pop fans as Manila welcomes another Korean boy group this weekend! Known best for their hits Face, Good Bye Bye, and Bet Bet, urban electro-band NU’EST is set to take over the Araneta Coliseum stage this Saturday. Filipino L.O.Λ.Es can still get their tickets at TicketNet starting at Php 2,500.

    Lea Salonga: Perfect Ten (August 30 and August 31)

    Resorts World Manila celebrates a decade of greatness with a two-night performance by renowned theater actress Lea Salonga at the Newport Performing Arts Theater. Joining her on stage is her daughter Nicole Chien along with The Voice Kids Philippines runner up Esang de Torres, fellow Miss Saigon actress Tanya Manalang, and Michael K. Lee, who starred with her in the broadway masterpiece Allegiance.

    Dani Girl: A Musical About Hope (August 10 to September 1)

    The Sandbox Collective presents Dani Girl: A Musical About Hope, which narrates the journey of nine-year-old Dani Lyons as she sets out on a magical quest to find her hair after losing it to chemotherapy. Catch the last few shows of Michael Kooman and Christopher Dimond’s inspiring musical at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium in RCBC Plaza.

    ArteFino Fair 2019 (August 19 to September 1)

    With the theme pamana (heritage), Manila’s premier craft fair ArteFino Fair features around 130 brands to champion the importance of heritage this year at the Fifth at Rockwell, Power Plant Mall. They also introduced the HeArteFino Development Program, with an on-going goal to bring local artisans closer to a sustainable livelihood by elevating their living traditions to adapt to modern times.

    International Silent Film Festival Manila (August 30 to September 1)

    The 13th International Silent Film Festival brings beautifully curated silent films to Samsung Hall in SM Aura, made fresh with original scores performed live. Plus, admission is free! The festival also commemorates the Philippine cinema’s first centenary with a lecture from local author and film historian Nick Deocampo.

    10th Philippine Business and Entrepreneurs’ Expo (August 30 to September 1)

    The three-day Philippine Business and Entrepreneurs’ Expo (PBEX) is happening at the Megatrade Hall 2 of SM Megamall this year. PBEX is one of the country’s annual business conference and networking events, catering to small and medium business owners and professionals. Interested participants may register here for free.

    Expo Mom Central 2019 (August 31 to September 1)

    It’s mommy’s day out this weekend! Shop ‘til you drop at Expo Mom Central as they feature mompreneurs and corporate brands offering safe and recommended mom and baby items at special discounts or bundles! The event will run for two days at the Activity Center of Bonifacio High Street in Taguig City.

    Best of Anime 2019 (August 31 to September 1)

    Anime and cosplay convention Best of Anime is celebrating their 10th year this weekend with an exciting line-up of events and competitions at the SMX Convention Center Manila. Attendees are also in for a treat as the venue will be brimming with merchant booths, guest talks, various demos, and workshops. Tickets are available for Php 380.
