New at Dohtonbori: Lunch Sets that will fill you up!

Dohtonbori, for a lot of Filipinos, is where you go after work with your friends for okonomiyaki. It’s become so heavily associated with okonomiyaki that whenever a new restaurant that serves the same dish pops up, people tend to compare it to Dohtonbori.

What most people don’t know, however, is that Dohtonbori serves more than just freshly-made okonomiyaki. They’ve got their own ramen, teppanyaki (which often goes well with okonomiyaki), fried noodles, fried rice, and the like. Fans have enjoyed their dishes for the past three years, and have been a staple for team dinners since they opened in November 2015.

One thing has been missing from their list: a lunch menu. Yes, you can still visit Dohtonbori for lunch; but the way most of us are pressed for time doesn’t fit with what Dohtonbori offers… until today.

Allow us to introduce Dohtonbori’s Teishoku Set Meals!

Starting today, February 8, you can enjoy a full meal for one when you visit any of Dohtonbori’s branches in Metro Manila.

THE EBI TEMPURA TEISHOKU. For only Php 495, you’ll get everything you see here plus a glass of hot or cold tea!

They’ve got four set meals to choose from: the Ebi Tempura Teishoku (Php 495), Gyu-don Teishoku (Php 395), Tonkatsu Teishoku (Php 395), and the Karaage Teishoku (Php 395). We were fortunate enough to get a taste of their Ebi Tempura Teishoku, and we were impressed.

We’ll start right away with the tempura. It’s a big, juicy piece of tiger prawn coated in tempura batter. It stood the test of time (what with me taking a good 15 – 30 minutes to take photos), a big plus when you compare it to other places that serve tempura.

Don’t look for the sauce, though, as it’s already IN the tempura. Neat, right?

Apart from the shrimp, you’ll also get your veggies: okra and squash, to be specific. All this on top of rice, by the way, so you also get your carbs. That’s pretty much a full meal… until you see the sides.

You’ve got your classic miso soup, a jello dessert, Dohtonbori’s signature kimchi (not Japanese, but the tang and spice are a nice touch), and fresh cabbage seasoned with a bit of soy sauce and sesame seeds. It’s a full meal that you don’t have to wait too long for, and already comes with hot or cold tea!

These set meals start at Php 395 and are available at all Dohtonbori branches (Greenhills, SM North EDSA, SM Mall of Asia, SM City Fairview, and UP Town Center) from 12 noon to 3 pm, Mondays to Fridays.
